..... and I dream. I dream of an event - something so fantastic - so powerful - so devastatingly good, that it would shake Lady Liberty right off her feminine foundation
- as she runs for her Life - tossing both
torch and book
into the air........
Art And Politics Don't Mix. The Artist Stands Alone.
Wheather you're a Socialist, a Communist, a Libertarian or a Capitalist - no matter what your political goals or agenda - art and politics simply do not mix. The artist stands alone in his thinking and with his work. Creations out of pure imagination don't curtail to any particular agenda of thinking, or policy or party prejudice. The act of creating from carnal imagination requires only one thing. Only one thought is in the mind of the artist - and that is to be uniquely original. Beyond all things and all costs, for him to simply be the artist inside. With all of the complexity, the self doubt, the spirit, and that carnal imagination that brings art to life. And it is wrong for us to judge against any artist if we find that their expression isn't from our mind or our way of thought. Art transcends policy and politics. If we as viewers of art can convince ourselves that each one of us is uniquely different, and original - that we, as creators of thought and art and music can, and will give of ourselves, as different as we each are, or would like to be. So accept these gifts from those that have the drive and desire to do what most of us can only dream of doing. Art And Politics Don't Mix. And that, my friends, in itself, is the gift of the Artist.
